Procedure After Sample Tube Breaks Inside Probe

If a sample tube breaks inside a probe, please follow these steps:
  1. Report the accident immediately using the emergency contact information posted on the magnets. Regardless whether staff assistance is avaliable, proceed to the following steps.
  2. Turn off spinning. From vnmrJ, go to Start->Spin/Temp->Spinner:Liquids->Spin Off
  3. Turn off VT regulation if it's on. Go to Start->Spin/Temp to turn regulation off.
  4. Stop using the machine.
  5. Post a clearly written note posted on the monitor or keyboard to warn others not to use the machine. Further use after tube breaking does more damage than a broken tube itself.

DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN THE PROBE YOURSELF IN ANY WAY.

Time is critical before the spill dries and further damage occurs. Contact staff immediately.
